Retired Sacramento City Manager John Shirey has joined Golden Pacific Bank as an adviser to its Board of Directors.

Turlock has approved a process to select a replacement for City Manager Gary Hampton, who is retiring. Included in the interview process will be three panels of community members, and a panel of the City executive staff.

Rancho Cordova City Manager Cyrus Abhar. Cyrus previously served as the Rancho Cordova Public Works Director and Chief Building Official. He has been a Rancho Cordova city employee since the City incorporated on July 1, 2003. Cyrus serves on the Folsom Lake College Foundation Board of Directors. He earned a BS in civil engineering from the University of Texas, Austin. Cyrus likes to ride his bicycle along the American River Parkway. Cyrus replaced former City Manager Brian Nakamura.

Retired Lodi City Manager Henry A. Glaves passed away at the age of 79 in 2001. Henry served as the Lodi City Manager from October, 1957 until April, 1985. He was born in El Paso, Texas and lived in Lodi for 49-years after completing his education at USC following WW II, when he served in the U.S. Army. Henry met his wife Trude during his service in Austria, as part of the Allied occupation forces. Henry served as the President of the City Managers Department of the League of California Cities in 1976-1977. Lodi’s Henry Glaves Park is named in the former city manager’s memory.

Redding City Manager Kurt Starman, 52, announced his retirement in January with his last day in office on May 19. Kurt joined the Redding city staff in 1991. He worked as a Budget Services Officer, Director of Administrative Services, Deputy City Manager and Assistant City Manager. Kurt was appointed City Manager in 2006. He plans to earn a Law Degree after retiring. He has earned an MPA from the University of Southern California (USC).

Santa Paula City Manager Jaime M. Fontes is the new City Manager in Greenfield, California. Jaime has served as the Santa Paula City Manager since February, 2010. Jaime replaces Greenfield Interim City Manager Jeri Corgill, the City’s Finance Director, who took over from Interim City Manager Robert Perrault.

Long Beach City Manager Pat West announced that

Kevin J. Jackson is that City’s new Deputy City Manager. Kevin was the Neighborhood Services Director in Champaign, Illinois. Kevin replaces Interim Deputy City Manager Anitra Dempsey, who has served in the post since former Deputy City Manager Arturo Sanchez took a position in the City of Sacramento. Kevin earned a BA and MPA from Arizona State University.

Morro Bay City Manager David Buckingham was an unsuccessful candidate for the Vail, Colorado Town Manager. Last year David was among the finalists for the Whitefish, Montana City Manager post. David has been the Morro Bay City Manager since September, 2014, shortly after he was discharged from the U.S. Army.
