Lance Howland has covered municipal governments for decades as an editor and reporter for the Hayward Daily Review, Alameda Times-Star and Syracuse (N.Y.) Post-Standard.

More recently, he was editor of one of the biggest education newspapers in the country, New York Teacher. He lives in Moraga in Contra Costa County.
