Santa Clarita will use social networking in an effort to boost city tourism.

Residents and visitors to the city can participate in a “Photo Friday” Twitter contest by submitting snapshots of Santa Clarita Valley via Twitter.

The contest, sponsored by the Santa Clarita Valley Tourism Bureau, kicks off on Friday and runs eight weeks.

“The Santa Clarita Valley Tourism Bureau developed Photo Friday as a way to celebrate the unique images that created great memories for Santa Clarita visitors,” said Jessica Freude, Economic Development for Santa Clarita.

Freude said that it’s an interactive way to remember a trip and share it with others, perhaps to inspire someone to visit the city.

The grand prize is an HD camcorder.

Participants simply send their photos to @SantaClarita on Twitter at specified times during the contest.
