The Roseville City Council has placed City Manager W. Craig Robinson on paid leave pending further action following a closed session performance evaluation on Wednesday afternoon.

Details of the decision to place Robinson on leave could not be discussed, said Roseville spokeswoman Megan MacPherson in a phone interview.

Robinson has served as Roseville City Manager since February 2003 and has been with the city since 1989. Robinson earns a $273,000 annual salary.

MacPherson said that the frequency of performance evaluations are up to the discretion of the City Council.

Before Wednesday, Robinson’s most recent regularly scheduled performance evaluation occurred in April, said Communications Analyst Jason Probst in an e-mail.

The city’s Assistant City Manager, Mike Shellito, will serve as the city manager in the interim.  Shellito is also the city’s Community Services Director.

In September, Robinson was honored for 30 years of membership service with the International City/County Management Association.
