The City of Los Angeles recently announced a decision to move its messaging system to Google Apps.  The City of Washington of D.C. deployed Google Apps to its 38,000 employees last year. 

Many city and local governments and agencies are considering Google Apps for the cost savings, ability to streamline IT and provide a platform for innovation to their employees. 

James Ferreira, CIO for the New Mexico State Attorney General’s office, recently moved his office to Google Apps from Microsoft Exchange.  Ferreira investigated his options, searching for something with ample inbox storage quotas, easy backup, data redundancy and low maintenance.
