Below is a list of the most partisan districts in the state. The data comes from the latest statement of vote from the California Secretary of State’s office from May 4, 2009. Not even the most Republican district in the state had more than 50 percent GOP registration, while the Compton-based 52nd Assembly District had more than 71 percent Democratic registration.

Statewide, 44.6 percent of all registered Californians are registered Democrats. Republicans make up 31.1 percent of all registered voters in the state.
