In Southern California at least, it’s the end of the “Green Rush.”

The Los Angeles City Council gave final approval Tuesday morning to close most marijuana dispensaries.

An ordinance to cap the number of dispensaries at 70 and tighten guidelines that push clinics out of neighborhoods and into industrial areas passed with a 9-3 vote at Tuesday’s city council meeting.

There is an estimated 800 to 1,000 pot clinics in the city.

City officials anticipate it will take 45 days to take effect, and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa must approve the ordinance.
