Monterey Park appointed Donald F. McIntyre to serve as its Interim City Manager as the City Council continues its search for a lasting hire.
Former Monterey Park City Manager June Yotsuya, who held the position since April 2008, was removed from her position on March 10 by a City Council vote of 3-2.
McIntyre was the City Manager in Pasadena from 1973 to 1990 and also briefly spent time as General Manager of the Orange County Sanitation District.
His interest in the City Manager position is only for the short term, as McIntyre told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune that he is not looking to be the full-time City Manager.
“In terms of selecting a permanent city manager, we’re still in discussion. We’re going to have to interview, but whether we’re going to go to an outside firm, we’re still in discussions about that,” Monterey Park Mayor Mitchell Ing told the Tribune.
