The Sacramento Bee is reporting that the city of Sacramento will reorgannize several departments and lay off four top officials to assist in a $43 million deficit.

The Bee reports:

“Under a budget plan released Thursday, the city will cut $2.7 million from its budget by eliminating four department head positions and up to 25 other jobs. The moves will take effect July 1 and do not require City Council approval.

Among the internal consolidations the city will implement are folding the code enforcement department into the development department, placing the Office of Youth Development and Neighborhood Services under the parks department, and merging labor relations with human resources.

The city will also consolidate its media affairs under an Office of Communications.”
