The Local Taxpayer, Public Safety and Transportation Protection Act of 2010 was certified by the Secretary of State last week and will now appear on the November Statewide ballot.
The initiative prohibits the state from borrowing or redirecting revenue from local government property taxes, gasoline taxes, local transit and redevelopment funds and other locally-issued taxes to close the budget gap.
The measure will appear with nine others on the November ballot. See the rest of the initiatives that qualified for the ballot here and read the full text of the Local Taxpayer, Public Safety and Transportation Protection Act here.
If approved, this initiative will, once and for all, keep local funds local.
