The Newport Beach Fire Department which serves a population of 84,554 is seeking to hire a Fire Chief. The department is supported by 156 staff (140 sworn), 230 seasonal staff and an annual budget of $34 million.
The ideal candidate will offer a balance of command level operations and administrative experience. As a strong, inclusive and confident leader, he/she will possess a track record of establishing high standards of professionalism and accountability. Ten years of increasingly responsible experience including five years of management experience along with a Bachelor’s degree are strongly preferred. A Master’s degree is desirable.
The salary range is $163,321 – $199,014 and is supplemented by an attractive benefits package that includes 3% @ 50 CalPERS retirement.
Firefighters staff eight stations across 43 square miles and respond to approximately 8,300 calls per year.
