The sessions for this conference are practical in nature and intended for persons who want to put lessons learned to work in local communities. Dan Cort, an excellent speaker who has spoken at LGC meetings before, will be the keynoter, and Judy Corbett will also be speaking at the opening session.
Taft City Manager Bob Gorson will be on a panel led by moderator David Rosen of David Paul Rosen & Associates (DRA) on Thursday, August 12th from 9:00 – 10:15 a.m. titled “Sustainable Neighborhood Design, Specific Plan Development and Community Benefit”. DRA has a proven record of success and innovation in program and investment design, finance, underwriting, due diligence, project development and asset management. The moderator and panel will explore four case studies that are examples of “Sustainable Community Design”. We are humbled and pleased that the City of Taft will be showcased for our planning efforts to date. You may recall that LGC sponsored Taft’s 3-day Design Charrette in February 2009. LGC is also partnering with the City of Taft in regard to the application for a Strategic Growth Council “Sustainable Communities” Grant. LGC will make a presentation to the Taft City Council soon in regard to the specific scope of work and solicit the Council’s direction in regard to the goals and Council expectations.
CRA has offered to anyone who references “LGC” when he/she registers the member rate of $390. Additional persons from your organization can register for half price. And, CRA offers a money-back guarantee if you don’t learn at least three new things at the conference! For any planners who would like to attend, AICP credits are also available.
