One city is a textbook example of that big first step in being transparent regarding city employee salaries. Many other cities are already doing this as well.
The city of Manteca is an example of one city already clear and open with its taxpayers regarding how much its administrators make. Obviously, the demand for this information has grown over outrage in response to the salary scandal in the city of Bell.
I wrote about it early last week and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said the same regarding the importance of the painless task of posting salaries online. Some cities – such as Manteca – already do it.
You can see how Manteca lists its city employee salaries, here. The list doesn’t give the salary of the individual, but shows the salary of each position.
The city of Laguna Woods also does a similar posting of its employee salaries. There are more out there.
