The city of Bell is looking for a new police chief.

The pay certainly won’t match what the predecessor was earning. The new hire will have to answer to, “You’re that police chief in Bell?” And the new police chief will be joining a city hoping to move past one of the darkest local government scandals in recent history.

The vacant position paid $457,000 previously to the resignation of former chief Randy Adams.

Bell’s Interim City Manager, Pedro Carrillo, said in a press release that candidates will be selected from around the nation and from within the Bell Police Department (Uh, bad idea there).

Either way, salary negotiations are setting up to be … awkward.
