If you’re looking for ways to save money, the former Mayor of Fremont has an idea: Merge.

It isn’t as novel of a concept as you would think. It’s a practice already being used across the state, country, and world.

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

Morrison, 75, has proposed merging Newark, Union City and Fremont, plus the local sanitation and water districts, into a new city with a new yet-to-be-determined name as a way to save money…


The new city would have a population of about 322,000, more than 50 percent bigger than Fremont today. He spoke to reporter Carolyn Jones about his plan.
