As part of a cost-cutting plan to help ensure a sustainable fiscal future for the City, the City Council has turned over the responsibility of negotiating with unions to a private law firm.

The agreed upon contract has a price limit on it, keeping the total financial impact to no more than $400,000.

Partner Timothy Davis, and any needed associates, will handle the negotiations with the six unions that represent city employees.




Davis will give expert legal consultation to California Teamsters Local 911, Deputy City Attorneys Association of San Diego, San Diego City Firefighters-International Firefighters Association Local 145, and San Diego Municipal Employees Association.   Davis will handle negotiations on retiree health benefit reforms and the 10 fiscal reforms in proposition D, the half cent sales tax law, for all six unions.
