Local officials and even one Valley lawmaker were struggling Wednesday to glean details of a state budget compromise that lawmakers are scheduled to vote on today. Details remained tightly controlled among the leadership of both parties and the governor’s office.

Assembly Member Juan Arambula, a Fresno independent who caucuses with the Democrats, said his best information on the deal was an eight-page document covering some major points that an aide found through Twitter, the social networking site.


Fresno County officials, who have been bracing for cuts in state funding, said Wednesday that they still couldn’t gauge how the budget deal will affect the county’s spending plan.
