San Francisco Bay area transportation officials have given the green light to seventeen pilot projects aimed at combating climate change.
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission on Wednesday approved $33 million in federal funds for the projects. They include deploying electric taxis in San Francisco and San Jose and having a mobile bicycle shop visit schools in Alameda County to encourage children to ride bicycles and offer tips about safety and maintenance.
