While multiple water main breaks — typically the result of aging pipes — do happen from time to time, they are an uncommon occurrence, acknowledged public utilities spokesman Arian Collins.
“I’d definitely classify it as unusual, and on top of that, we don’t have enough crews to work on all three on a Sunday,” he said.
