So state law says you can’t release results until everyone is done voting. Sounds fair.

And to be honest, if I told someone I would do something by a certain time but I would violate state law by doing so, I would be conflicted.

In this case, a combination of factors, both seen and unseen, must have contributed to the firing of this Chief Elections Officer.

Riverside County’s top executive fired Registrar of Voters Barbara Dunmore today after renewed criticism over how she handled last week’s election.

The move came this afternoon after a lengthy Board of Supervisors meeting earlier in the morning in which Dunmore came under intense scrutiny for not more quickly posting election results.

“I appreciate Ms. Dunmore’s service but it is time for new leadership,” county Executive Officer Bill Luna said in a statement.
