Robert Rizzo continues to make watchdogs across the state drool. The newest development is the astoundingly high sick pay and vacation time he’d accrued. 

I’m not talking about the number of hours, but actually the per-hour rate he received.

Ok, well, maybe it is both the per-hour rate AND the amount he cashed in. In fact, when it was all done, he traded more than 143 days of paid time off for roughly $350,000.

Calling its former top administrator an embezzler who stole millions from the city treasury, the city of Bell on Wednesday took legal action against Robert Rizzo, alleging unjust enrichment, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty and fraud.

The complaint seeks to have Rizzo return millions to the city.

“Robert Rizzo embezzled, stole and misappropriated millions of dollars in city funds by obtaining grossly excessive and completely unwarranted compensation packages,” the complaint alleges.
