Local governments all over California are dealing with the impact of tribal gaming.  The location of casinos in rural areas means transportation and land use issues for these communities.  The desire to place these multi-million dollar entertainment destinations closer to people means great political push back as tribes attempt to place casinos on non-trust land in major cities.

U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein of California is wading into the fight with federal legislation on the issue.


It should be noted that tribal gaming is generally not an issue for the larger cities in California.  State policy that has been appoved by voters have placed tribal gaming facilities in the rural areas of California where trust land is located.
