San Diego’s city council is taking a different approach on this year’s budget. Previously, the council would simply react to the budget recommendations from the mayor’s office. This time, they’re going to tell him what they want to see in the next fiscal year.

One of the goals for the council is to restore funding to the fire engines that were shut down last year as part that round of budget cuts.
