The California Special Districts Association (CSDA) is putting the final touches on plans for its Annual Conference and Exhibitor Showcase, held October 10-13, 2011 in Monterey, CA. The event will be both fun and educational for representatives of the state’s special districts.

Special district board members and staff are expected to attend from throughout the state, representing a wide variety of special districts. Participating districts range from fire, cemetery, harbor and community services districts to some of the largest water, wastewater and public utility districts in California.

The conference has already lined up prestigious keynote speakers to entertain, enlighten, and educate. Former Yahoo! Executive Tim Sanders was an effective leader in the business community, where he learned lessons about the power of relationships and the potential of harnessing an individual’s full potential.

Libby Gill is an internationally respective executive coach and brand strategist. Her speech, based upon her “Clarify, Simplify, and Execute” process will help inspire both people and organizations.

Also slated to speak are Steve Owens, of the U.S. Census Bureau; Ralph Heim, CSDA’s Legislative Advocate; and Pete Peterson, the Executive Director of the Davenport Institute for Public Engagement and Civil Leadership.

With over 30 educational breakout sessions, virtually every area of local governance will be covered, ensuring this conference is valuable for all. Attendees can particularly benefit from legally required ethics and sexual harassment prevention trainings.

Throughout the conference, attendees can network with the vendors and industry partners in the exhibit hall and one another.

Bringing together exhibitors, board members and general managers from districts across California, this conference is the most comprehensive gathering of resources for special districts to exist.

This annual CSDA event is designed to bring staff and elected officials from varying types and sizes of special districts together to educate themselves on issues important to the effective delivery of services to nearly all Californians and connect with those dealing with those same issues.

Further enhancing the program is the setting. The beautiful Monterey Marriott in Monterey California is in the heart of one of the most beautiful parts of our state. CSDA, taking full advantage of the conference’s surroundings, is offering various events outside of the convention halls. Go golfing at the CSDA Golf Tournament, or go on a Safari and Tour of the Moss Landing Harbor District.

However you structure your trip to the CSDA Annual Conference, plan on being there from October 10 – 13th, enjoying and learning every moment.
