Duluth, Georgia is transitioning to the Council-Manager former of local government, and the city is recruiting its first City Manager, since City Administrator Phil McLemore is retiring after 15-years with the city. Former Angels Camp City Manager Tim Shearer has been ranked as the top candidate by the city’s selection committee. Tim served in Angels Camp, California for the past 15-years. South

Pasadena City Manager John Davidson is the new Irwindale City Manager. It is anticipated that Assistant City Manager Sergio Gonzalez may be the next South Pasadena City Manager. John is expected to take over from Interim City Manager Marty Lomeli by November 7. Sol Benudiz, Irwindale’s former City Manager and Police Chief, resigned in June to take a position with the Southern California Edison Company.

Former Santa Fe Springs Mayor and Council Member Gustavo “Gus” Velasco, 71, passed away Friday, October 7. He had contracted a liver disease; cryptogenic cirrhosis. Gus was not a drinker. Santa Fe Springs City Manager Thaddeus McCormack acknowledged that Gus established a legacy of community contributions and leadership.

Indian Wells City Manager Greg Johnson submitted his resignation effective November 4.

Belvedere City Manager George J. Rodericks earned a JD at Concord University School of Law in 2007. George, a former La Mirada Assistant and Villa Park City Manager, has been in Belvedere since 2005.

October 9 saw the 27th running of the Long Beach International City BankMarathon with some 25,000 participants. Pat West is the Long Beach City Manager.

Former Pinole and Pittsburg City Manager Marc Grisham has been retained by San Pablo as an economic development consultant as Grisham & Associates based at his Pinole home.

Berkeley City Manager Phil Kamlarz will retire at the end of November after 36-years as a Berkeley city employee. It was about 8-years ago with Phil succeeded former City Manager Weldon Rucker. Deputy City Manager Christine Daniel is at the head of the list to replace Phil and become the first female City Manager in Berkeley’s history.

Compton has dismissed City Manager Willie Norfleet; the third Compton City Manager fired in the past 5 years. Willie had worked for Compton for about four years and served as the City Controller until he was tagged to replace City Manager Charles Evans last fall.

Vista Assistant City Manager Patrick Johnson will take the City Manager post following City Manager Rita Geldert’s retirement in December. Pat joined the Vista staff in 1998 as a Management Analyst.

Santa Clarita Administrative Intern Chelsea Wood is the recipient of one of two 2011 Wes McClure Scholarships presented by the California City Management Foundation (CCMF). Chelsea is an MPA program student at USC. CCMF President Wade McKinney, Atascadero City Manager, notes that CCMF is committed to supporting the future generations of city leaders.

Ken Pulskamp is the Santa Clarita City Manager.

Retired Huntington Park City Manager Gregory Korduner and retired County Official and former Hawaiian Gardens City Administrator Ray Harris were seen recently teeing it up at the Mountain View Golf Club in Pomona.

Bellflower and Diamond Bar alumnus Linda Manning is the current Pomona City Manager. Bellflower city staff alumnus Debra Vanzant has worked for the Santa Clarita building and safety department for more than 20-years.

Yolo County Assistant County Administrator Pat Leary has taken a position with the State of California Department of Social Services. County Administrator Patrick Blacklock is restructuring the management staff with Pat’s departure.

Actor Edward James Olmos will address the 18th Annual BRAVO Awards next February 9 at the William and Jane Bristol Auditorium in Bellflower.

Retired veteran City Manager Larry F. Pennell of Wasco fame is the new “interim” General Manager for the Lamont Public Utilities District in Kern County. He expects to conclude the assignment when a permanent GM is appointed in a few months.

San Jacinto City Manager Tim Hults, 49, was honored by the community for his 20-years with the City. He joined the San Jacinto staff as a Senior Planner from Moreno Valley. He worked in the San Jacinto Community Development Department and was promoted to Assistant City Manager. He became Interim City Manager in January, 2010 with the retirement of City Manager Barry McClellan, and became the permanent appointment in July, 2010.

Brookings, Oregon
City Manager Gary D. Milliman served as the Cotati City Manager from 1977 to 1979 before he went to Fort Bragg as the City Manager for some 18-years.

City Manager Mark V. Bozigian has worked for the City for 15-years, the past couple as City Manager. He has served as Assistant City Manager, Redevelopment Director, Assistant to the City Manager, and Transportation Program Coordinator.
