It’s against this backdrop that the City has announced it is searching for a dynamic individual to join the City family as a Human Resource Specialist in the benefits division. There, the successful candidate will work under general supervision and perform para-professional human resources work.
The job, which has a variety of career enhancing responsibilities, offers the successful candidate the chance to shine. From engaging groups of employees regarding diverse Human Resources matters to delivering, organizing, and preparing orientation and training programs, the position can be an opportunity for candidates to further their training and leadership experiences. Other notable responsibilities include oversight of benefits enrollment, coordination of the City-wide Wellness Program and review of position classifications.

In return, the City is offering a competitive compensation package, with full benefits and salary. The salary, which ranges from $3,431 – $4,599 monthly, is coupled with a benefits package that includes retirement (calculated on a2.7%@55 formula); seven different health insurance plans to choose from; along with vision, dental, life, leave, long term care, and a flexible spending account.
The successful candidate will have the equivalent to an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college in business/public administration, human resources, social or behavioral sciences, psychology, or a closely related field. The city is also looking for three (3) years of advanced administrative support experience in human resource related functions. Up to two years of additional education may substitute for two years of the required experience.
Additionally, the most qualified candidates will have two (2) or more years of human resources experience assisting in benefits administration including experience working with a Human Resources Information System.
