The City of Sacramento Fleet Division was recognized as ninth best public-sector fleet in North America at the Government Fleet Expo & Conference in San Antonio, Texas. This is the second year in a row the city has received this distinction.

“We are constantly looking at ways to improve how we operate,” said Keith Leech, Fleet Manager with the City of Sacramento. “We have been extremely successful in using technology to be more sustainable and are always fine-tuning how we can provide better services while also saving the City money.”

The 100 Best Fleets program recognizes efficient and effective fleets in North America that have excelled in implementing cost-savings measures which have benefitted their agencies. Among many accomplishments, the City of Sacramento was recognized for the following top three notable achievements:

  • Leveraging existing resources with investments in technology and implemented innovative fleet management solutions.
  • Renewing the fleet with alternative fuel, plug-in vehicles, and strategic downsizing for fuel efficiency, with projected annual petroleum reduction and greenhouse gas reductions.
  • Increasing surplus vehicle net auction proceeds via online auctions, earning $779,680 by selling 322 units.

In addition to being in the top 10 best public-sector fleets, the City’s fleet is also currently number two for Government Green Fleet in North America.
