Shortly after San Diego Mayor Bob Filner asked the City to cover his legal bills for some of the sexual harassment allegations, the City has counter sued the Mayor, demanding that he reimburse the City for any and all costs associated with the claims made against him. The lawsuit says that City has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment, and sexual harassment is not an official duty.

The suit seeks to indemnify the City from any costs associated with his alleged misconduct. So far, one of the eight accusers has sued the City. As part of that lawsuit, the City served a subpoena to Filner to depose him regarding the allegations.

Filner’s request for legal fee support from the City was largely seen as procedural, in the event that Filner is found free of guilt in the cases. However, the City Council voted unanimously to deny that request.
