Two-term Sonoma County Supervisor Efren Carrillo watched his rising star stagnate and begin to slump after he was arrested for allegedly attempting to enter a woman’s home through a bedroom window. He has since checked himself into a treatment center for a problem with alcohol.

This is the second run-in with the law for a man who, even last week, was being considered for office in Sacramento. Last year, Carrillo was arrested outside a bar in Arizona and charged with battery. Those charges were eventually dropped after it came to light that Carrillo had been defending a group of female friends. However, that incident along with the latest allegation of prowling has some concerned about his after-hours activities.

Now, Carrillo has checked himself into a month-long treatment facility to address his drinking problem. The stay will require him to a miss one supervisors’ meeting and a meeting of the County’s new power agency, which Carrillo had helped start.
