The job of County Supervisor has been described as “the best gig in California politics.” It is a wonder then how prominent politicos are able to throw away both the promise and privilege of the position, particularly when one is considered a rising star on the state scene.

Enter Nadia Lockyer, former Alameda County Supervisor and wife to California State Treasurer Bill Lockyer, who has been both the subject of several Northern California political scandals involving a sex tape and meth addiction.

An attorney by trade, Nadia had served as the Executive Director of the Alameda County Family Justice Center until she was appointed to the Board of Governors of the California Community College System by Gov. Schwarzenegger in 2010.

Lockyer was elected to the Board of Supervisors in November 2010 and served until she began inexplicably missing meetings in November 2011. In February 2012, things fell apart quickly for the political power couple when Lockyer called the police from a Newark, CA hotel to report an assault and her subsequent head and neck injuries.

Lockyer’s attacker turned out to be a construction worker with whom she had begun a yearlong relationship with after meeting in a Kaiser outpatient rehab program in 2010.

The attorney general’s office investigated the matter, which prompted further controversy given that Bill Lockyer had previously served as attorney general for eight years. No charges were filed.

In April 2012, Lockyer resigned from her post as Alameda County Supervisor to focus on her struggles with addiction.

The fallout from her resignation only worsened as it came to light that she had sent emails to the media alleging that her husband supplied her with drugs—which she later publicly retracted—and that a sex tape had been made between Lockyer and her lover.

In an exclusive interview with ABC 7, Lockyer sits down to discuss the various scandals that have erupted over the past several years. As the ABC 7 puts it, “no topic was off the table” and she speaks candidly of her affair, the disintegration of her marriage, sex tape and meth use.
