The June 3rd primary election is just over a month away. For many, fulfilling this civic responsibility is more chore than honor.
Casting an informed ballot requires hitting the books before hitting the booth. If you don’t do your homework, voting can feel like taking exam you didn’t study for. And finding credible and useful information on candidates and ballot measures is a daunting task if you don’t know where to look.
Fear not, intrepid citizens, help is on the way! The League of Women Voters of California Education Fund and MapLight are teaming up to arm California voters with the knowledge required to make an informed decision at the ballot box. A more robust nonpartisan online voter guide called Voter’s Edge, unveiled Wednesday, puts election information at your fingertips.
“In 2014, we’re going to be covering all California statewide candidates, legislative candidates, congressional candidates as well as all statewide ballot measures and ballot measures in 50 different localities,” said Jay Costa, Program Director for MapLight.
We caught up with Jay earlier this year at the 2014 Future of California Elections Conference held in Los Angeles to find out what information Californians can expect to find on Voter’s Edge. Watch the video to learn about all the cool new features. Don’t procrastinate, get ready for the primary election today!
