Recently retired Navy Captain Clifford M. Maurer, 51, has been appointed to serve as the Public Services Director for the City of Coronado. He has a nearly 30-years Naval career as a Civil Engineer Corps officer.Coronado City Manager Blair King said that Cliff has extensive experience in public works management, maintenance, construction and service contracting, environmental engineering and strategic planning. He is a U. S. Naval Academy graduate and earned a MS in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

Arcata City Manager Randy Mendosa announced in February that he plans to retire in July. Randy has also served as the Arcata Police Chief for more than 20-years. He was appointed City Manager in 2008. Arcata is in the process of recruiting a new City Manager.

Long Beach Airport Director Mario Rodriguez has taken the Executive Director position for the Indianapolis Airport Authority in Indiana. Long Beach Deputy City Manager Reginald “Reggie” Harrison is filling in behind Mario’s leaving to serve as the Interim Airport Director at the Long Beach Airport (LGB). Pat West is the Long Beach City Manager.

Since the May dismissal of Twentynine Palms City Manager Joe Guzzetta, Finance Officer Ron Peck has served as Acting City Manager. The appointment of an Interim City Manager is being considered.

Lodi City Attorney Steve Schwabauer, a native of Ventura, is the new Lodi City Manager. Steve has served as the Lodi City Attorney since 2004, and he was the Deputy City Attorney for five-years previous to his appointment. He earned a BA from the University of California, Davis and earned his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley.

Upland City Manager Stephen Dunn has announced his retirement effective June 30. Stephen has served as the Upland City Manager since 2011 after serving in an interim capacity. He is a former Finance Director, coming to Upland in that post in 2001. He previously worked for Fontana and Buena Park.

Pico Rivera has hired Huntington Park City Manager Rene Bobadilla to serve as its’ new City Manager. He will report to Pico Rivera June 27. Rene replaces City Manager Ron Bates, who has retired and has been working without compensation since November, 2012. Rene has served in Huntington Park since September, 2012. Prior to that he was the El Monte City Manager.

Jay Panzica is the new City Treasurer and Chief Financial Executive in Roseville. Jay will started his new job June 2. He has been serving as the Chief Financial Officer in the City of Ventura for the past 9-years. He earned a BA from Michigan State University and an MBA in finance from Wayne State University. The Roseville City Manager is Ray Kerridge.

Retired Fairfield City Manager Kevin O’Rourke of PARS is a member of the California Conservation Corps Foundation Board. He has been associated with the CCC for more than 30-years. Kevin reminds everyone that the CCC Foundation Chili & Barbecue fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, June 14 at 22222 Hwy 1, Marshall, California 94940.

Bill Garrett, retired El Cajon City Manager and former Executive Director of the California City Management Foundation, currently serves as the President of the Governing Board for the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District. The District operates two colleges: Grossmont College and Cuyamaca College. They serve about 30,000 students each year. Grossmont began classes in 1961, and Cuyamaca was built in 1978.

Urban Futures President Michael Busch joined the firm in 2007 after a impressive career in city government working as a Chief Financial Officer, City Treasurer and Deputy City Manager. In March, 2014 he was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the firm. He has served as an Adjunct Faculty member for the School of Policy, Planning and Development at the University of Southern California (USC). He worked for the Cities of Claremont, Indio and Lancaster.

Colton Chief of Police Steve Ward has been appointed Acting City Manager during the time City Manager Stephen J. Compton, 60, is on paid administrative leave. Steve joined the Colton staff in March, 2013. He is a former Assistant City Manager in Ridgecrest and worked as Interim Accounting Manager in Fountain Valley.

Retired La Verne City Manager Martin Lomeli met with the Upland City Council while considering the appointment of an Interim City Manager. In 2011 Marty completed an Interim City Manager assignment in Irwindale. He served as the City Manager in La Verne between 1987 and 2010 when he retired.

Upland City Manager Stephen Dunn has announced that he will retired effective June 30.

Former Carson City Administrator David Biggs has been selected to serve as the next Hercules City Manager. David has held staff positions in the Cities of Santa Ana, Long Beach, Morgan Hill, Huntington Beach, Redondo Beach, and he served as City Manager in Tustin and as interim in Montebello.
