San Diego Explained: An Easier Out for Rogue City Officials

San Diego Explained: An Easier Out for Rogue City Officials

In this week’s San Diego Explained, NBC7 San Diego’s Monica Dean and Voice of San Diego’s Ashly McGlone detail the changes Measure E is proposing.

By Kinsee Morlan.

New city rules drafted in the wake of former Mayor Bob Filner’s sexual harassment scandal will go before voters this November.

If approved, Measure E would make it easier to remove a city official who’s done wrong.

A yes vote on the ballot measure would offer new avenues to remove elected city officials, and boost the requirements for city attorney candidates. A no vote would keep the status quo, which requires death, resignation, loss of voter eligibility or a recall to force an official out before the end of his or her term.

In this week’s San Diego Explained, NBC7 San Diego’s Monica Dean and Voice of San Diego’s Ashly McGlone detail the changes Measure E is proposing.
