People planning to attend Hayward City Council meetings can now obtain free childcare services by making an advance request to the Office of the City Clerk by the Friday prior to the meeting.
The City of Hayward is offering childcare during Council meetings to make it easier for members of households with young children to participate in local government.
The Council makes budgetary, legislative and other policy decisions, and sets aside time to receive public comment during regular and special meetings held Tuesday nights at City Hall, 777 B Street, Hayward. Agendas for upcoming Council meetings are posted at least 72 hours in advance and available here through the City’s website.
The childcare services will be provided at City Hall in Conference Room 2A on the same floor as and near the Council chambers. To access the service, an authorized adult, carrying valid photo identification, will be required to complete a consent form, and sign the child or children under their care in and out of the service location.
Anyone interested in receiving the service must request it by contacting the Office of the City Clerk at (510) 583-4400 at least by 5 p.m. on the Friday prior to a regular or specially scheduled Tuesday night meeting of the Council.
