La Canada Flintridge logo LCFOn October 26, the City of La Cañada Flintridge (LCF) will launch a community electronic gift card stimulus program to assist LCF businesses in recovery from the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program will allow community members to purchase City-subsidized e-gift cards (called La Cañada Flintridge Shop Local Card) for use at LCF businesses, providing an incentive for residents to shop locally.

“Our local businesses are an integral part of the LCF community, and when small business thrives, our entire community benefits,” said Mayor Mike Davitt. “The City is committed to supporting our business community, and this innovative e-gift card program is just one of the ways we are showing our commitment.”

Following approval by the LCF City Council on August 4, City staff and the City’s Mayor Pro-Tem worked with the LCF Chamber of Commerce to select a program and provider. The e-gift card company Yiftee was chosen as the best fit for the LCF community. Yiftee has been in the gift card business since 2012 and recently issued a whitepaper on how public-private partnerships stimulate small business COVID-19 recovery efforts.

Customers can view a map of participating businesses and purchase e-gift cards on Yiftee’s website in the amount of $40 supplemented with an additional $15 bonus card (limit 9 bonus cards) free from the City. The $55 total value e-gift cards will be eligible for use at those participating local businesses in the City. Businesses are encouraged to participate in the program by contacting Lisa Brancheau, Senior Management Analyst at LBrancheau@lcf.ca.gov.
