Rialto City Manager Rod Foster announced his retirement at the Rialto City Council Meeting on September 22, 2020.
Mr. Foster expressed his appreciation to the City Council for the opportunity to help lead the City and thanked the City Council, department heads, City employees and the entire community for the “opportunity to serve the beautiful great City of Rialto.” The City Council expressed its thanks for Mr. Foster’s services to the City, his leadership in making needed changes in Rialto, and his stewardship of City resources.
Mr. Foster came out of retirement to help lead the City of Rialto in June 2019. He provided more than 35 years of public service, the majority of which was in the Inland Empire. In addition to his tenure in Rialto, Mr. Foster served as City Manager in Laguna Niguel and Colton and Assistant City Manager in Upland and Hesperia.
Mr. Foster’s last day with the City of Rialto will be October 26, 2020. In order to provide for an efficient transition of leadership, the Rialto City Council appointed Rialto Fire Chief Sean Grayson as the Acting City Manager effective September 25, 2020. Chief Grayson was Mr. Foster’s predecessor having served as the Interim City Administrator for Rialto from December 2018 through June 2019.
