Jeff Kay leaves post after 11 years of City Service

City of San LeandroDuring the October 5th City Council meeting, San Leandro City Manager Jeff Kay announced his departure from the city manager position. Mr. Kay’s last day with San Leandro will be December 18th. He will become the next city manager for the City of Healdsburg in Sonoma County starting in January, 2021.

Upon reflecting on his City service, Mr. Kay stated, “I’ve spent over a decade in this organization in four different positions, and I treasure the relationships I’ve built in that time. I am extremely proud of everything the City has accomplished in both good and challenging times. I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to work within a team of dedicated, talented, and caring professionals. I am grateful to Mayor Cutter and the City Council for granting me the opportunity to serve as the City’s chief administrative officer.”

Mayor Cutter added, “I will certainly miss Jeff. He has always been approachable and effective when it came to the operations of City services and could be relied upon to provide a personal touch with our residents. The next city manager will have big shoes to fill once they are appointed.”

The City Council has commenced discussions on how it intends to handle the recruitment for the next city manager. More information will be forthcoming.
