Vacaville City Manager Aaron Busch announced today the hiring of Maurice Chaney as the new Public Relations Manager. Chaney starts February 1.
Chaney comes to the City of Vacaville with more than 20 years of experience in the communications and public information field. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from UC Davis. He leaves his position as a public information officer with the City of Roseville, where he has worked since 2014.
“We conducted a thorough recruitment process for this very important position,” said Aaron Busch, City Manager. “We’re extremely happy to have Maurice join the team and we’re confident his extensive experience in communications and community engagement will serve the City of Vacaville well.”
Chaney was selected from a large pool of well-qualified candidates. “I am honored to join such an amazing, forward-thinking organization,” said Chaney. “Vacaville is known by many as a great place to live and do business. And, it is my hope that I can help share the City’s point of view and provide opportunities to inform, educate and engage with our customers, the community and beyond.”
The City of Vacaville’s Public Relations Manager is a newly created position that will replace the Public Information Officer. Chaney will work in the City Manager’s Office where he will be responsible for the development and implementation of the City’s strategic and comprehensive communication and public outreach plans. He will work closely with all departments, along with elected officials, to provide information to the public and media through a wide range of sources.
