The City of Corona is pleased to announce Robert Newman’s appointment as Corona’s new Chief of Police. 

Chief Newman began his career at the Corona Police Department in 1995. Since then, he has had a stellar record of service to the Corona community. In his 25 years of service, Chief Newman has served in various assignments as Officer and Detective, including FLEX and the Special Response Team. He has supervised the K-9 Unit, FLEX Team, and worked as a Relief Watch Commander. 

Chief Newman holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration with a minor in Criminal Justice from California State University San Bernardino and a POST Management Certificate. He is also a graduate of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute.

“It takes many years of training and experience to be prepared to serve effectively in this capacity, and it is rewarding to see one of our own earn the opportunity to lead,” said City Manager Jacob Ellis. “I have full confidence that he possesses the commitment, leadership qualities, and integrity necessary to continue Corona’s proud tradition of Excellence in Policing.

Chief Newman’s new role with Corona became effective March 30, 2021.
