On Monday, April 12, Daryl Arbuthnott publicly announced that he will be stepping down as the Fire Chief in the City of Vallejo.
Chief Arbuthnott stated he is interested in pursuing other promising opportunities available to him that he cannot pass over.
“I have enjoyed my time at Vallejo, and I am confident that the City will recruit a new Fire Chief who will continue to grow the Vallejo Fire Department and support the community,” said Arbuthnott.
City Manager Greg Nyhoff said, “I wish Chief Arbuthnott the best in his future endeavors, and I owe him many thanks for the professionalism and knowledge he brought to Vallejo. I am most grateful for his assistance in developing our Emergency Operations capabilities, structure, and organization. The support and leadership he provided was an invaluable contribution to the City, especially during a pandemic.”
On Monday, City Manager Nyhoff also announced that Deputy Fire Chief, Kyle Long, a 17-year veteran with the Vallejo Fire Department will step in as the interim Fire Chief until the position is filled.
