The Perris City Council has announced the appointment of Clara Miramontes as the new Perris City Manager, voted on at the May 11, 2021 Perris City Council meeting.

The Council voted unanimously to appoint Miramontes as the top administrator for the City after more than 10 years with Perris, and after serving the last five months as interim City Manager. Miramontes was appointed to Interim City Manager in December 2020, replacing long-time City Manager Richard Belmudez, who had recently retired. Now, Miramontes becomes the first permanent female City Manager in the City’s history.

Miramontes has 25 years of professional experience in the public sector. She has previously served as the City’s Assistant City Manager and Director of Development Services. Prior, she served the City of Riverside as Principal Planner and served in various roles in the Cities of Bellflower and Pomona. Miramontes holds a Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from California Polytechnic University, Pomona and a Masters of Public Policy and Administration from California State University, Long Beach.

Miramontes has a long history in City Development and Administration and enjoys seeing growth and success in the City of Perris.

“I am overjoyed, humbled and honored to be appointed Perris’ City Manager,” said Miramontes. “I will continue to strive to enhance the quality of life for its residents and build strong working relationships within this wonderful organization and the community.”

Miramontes, a native of Los Angeles, had always looked for opportunity and found it in 2002 after she relocated to the expanding and affordable Inland Empire. Miramontes resides in Riverside, Calif. with her husband and three children. Miramontes’ employment contract will be brought to the Perris City Council for approval at a future City Council meeting.
