The City of Tehachapi would like to welcome Hamed Jones to the finance team effective February 7, 2022. He is the new Finance Director following the retirement of Hannah Chung on February 3. Hannah announced her retirement in the Fall of 2021 following more than 22 years of dedicated service to our organization.
Hamed comes to the City of Tehachapi with approximately 18 years of government finance experience. Most recently with the Bear Valley Springs Community Service District where he was the Administrative Services Director and the Assistant Finance Manager with the City of Palmdale before that.
Hamed and his family are Tehachapi residents, he is a U.C.L.A. graduate and has spent many volunteer hours in the Tehachapi community working with our local youth sports programs as a coach. Hamed will lead the award-winning City of Tehachapi Finance Department and has stated his excitement about this new adventure. “I’m grateful for this opportunity, I’m looking forward to working with the staff here at the city and most of all serving the community,” said Hamed Jones Finance Director City of Tehachapi.
“First I want to thank and congratulate Hannah Chung for her tireless and dedicated service to the citizens of this city for the past twenty-plus years, Hannah was instrumental in maintaining a balanced budget and for the transparency of our finance department,” said Greg Garrett City Manager.
“We are excited to welcome in Hamed Jones to our team at the City of Tehachapi. Hamed has the experience we were looking for, he came to us highly regarded in the government finance sector and it’s a bonus he already calls Tehachapi home,” said Garrett.
