Carson City Council appointed David C. Roberts, Jr. as their new City Manager from within their internal ranks. Mr. Roberts has proven to be a recognized leader with a vision to create the City of Carson an even better place to live, work and play.

“For more than three years, I have been extremely fortunate to work, collaborate and enjoy our successes with the City Council, the residents and all employees. I believe in building bridges not barriers. My emphasis has been and will continue to be implementing all City Council priorities while working collectively with our dynamic and dedicated employees to provide the highest quality services to our residents,” said Roberts.

Originally hired by the city as the Assistant City Manager in 2018, David oversaw Community Services, Code Enforcement, Emergency Services, Information Technology, City Council staff and Public Information Office.

David C. Roberts, Jr., has over 22 years of private, public and federal experience while serving in multiple capacities of Administration (Human Resources & Finance), Risk Management, Community Services, Cable Television, Economic Development and Community Development & Block Grants (CDBG).

Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes remarked, “The City Council is very pleased to have as our new city manager one who has had an extensive and diverse career in a multitude of cities and government agencies. We have seen Mr. Roberts successfully take on many significant responsibilities over the past few years and we are confident that he can be the leader we need at this time. He has a great team to work with and the Council expects David’s leadership will bring a positive direction for our city.“

Roberts holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from California State University, Long Beach. He is a United States Veteran who served in the United States Army as a Non-Commissioned Officer at the rank of Sergeant at Fort Irwin, California.
