On Tuesday, March 15, the Fountain Valley City Council voted 5-0 to appoint Raul Godinez II as Interim City Manager who will be taking on the duties of City Manager on an interim basis in order to keep City operations moving forward.
Raul Godinez II has over 35 years of experience in both the public & private sectors, exclusively serving California cities. Godinez’s experience in public administration is quite extensive, having served the cities of Los Angeles, San Fernando, Oakland, Santa Ana, El Monte and Lynwood in various roles, including Engineer, Project Manager, City Engineer, Public Works Director, City Manager, City Council member & Mayor.
Godinez holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and is a Registered Civil Engineer.
Throughout his career, he has earned numerous accolades and awards in the area of Public Works. He has been highly involved in numerous professional organizations including the American Public Works Association, League of California Cities and the Institute for the Advancement of Engineering.
Although his career has focused on city infrastructure and the built environment, he believes that a city’s strongest assets are its human capital, and as such has focused a lot of his attention on organizational development and professional staff growth in the organizations he has led.
