The City of El Segundo would like to welcome Interim City Manager Darrell George. Mr. George’s contract was approved at the March 1st City Council meeting. Mr. George will lead the City’s day-to-day operations until a new city manager is appointed.

Most recently, Mr. George was a senior advisor with Climatec and has more than 30 years of experience in local government. He’s held numerous positions in the cities of Santa Monica, Downey, and Pomona, and served for 15 years as the city manager for the City of Duarte, from where he retired in December 2019. During his tenure in the public sector, Darrell spearheaded many projects, including Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade, Downey’s landmark development Downey Landing, and more recently, Duarte’s Gold Line Station and laying groundwork for the City of Hope’s future campus development. The City launched a nationwide recruitment effort and is actively seeking candidates for the permanent appointment of a new city manager.
