County of MonoOn July 12, the Mono County Board of Supervisors adopted a Resolution appointing Jeff Simpson as Mono County Economic Development Director.  Under direction of the County Administrative Officer, the Economic Development Director is  responsible for the professional planning, organization and implementation of the county’s economic development functions from conception to completion. Mr. Simpson has worked for the Mono County Economic Development Department for ten years, most recently serving as  Economic Development Manager. 

“Jeff is a critical member of the Mono County team, and we are thrilled that he’s stepped up to  this leadership role in the county,” said Bob Gardner, Chair of the Mono County Board of  Supervisors. “His tenure with the Economic Development Department and his background and experience uniquely position him to excel in this new position.” 

In his new role, Mr. Simpson is charged with proactive business retention, attraction, and  expansion strategies, development of tourism, fisheries and film sectors, long-range planning, as  well as interfacing with the development community, local businesses, agencies, and other county departments to build a thriving, diversified local economy.  

“I’m looking forward to many more years of public service in Mono County, and continuing to be  an advocate for small businesses in the Eastern Sierra,” said Simpson. 

Mr. Simpson holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a  Masters in Sustainable Tourism from Arizona State University. Born and raised in Mono County,  Mr. Simpson resides in Bridgeport with his wife Jessica, and sons James and Parker.
