The City of Irvine is launching a one-time grant program for local nonprofits to provide services supporting the community’s most vulnerable individuals, families, and small businesses.
Applications for the Irvine Recovery Plan – Vulnerable Populations and Small Business Assistance Grants Program (IRP Grants Program) will be available beginning Thursday, August 4. Qualified nonprofit agencies interested in applying for funding are encouraged to attend a technical workshop being held via Zoom on Thursday, August 4, at 2 p.m. RSVPs are required for the workshop. For the application packet, to rsvp for the virtual workshop, and for more information, visit cityofirvine.org/IRP.
“The City of Irvine is committed to supporting the critical needs of our community, such as child care, food insecurity, housing, and mental health resources,” said Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “These grants, made possible through American Recovery Plan Act funding, will ensure much-needed resources make their way to the most vulnerable in Irvine.”
Nonprofit organizations proposing community programs and direct financial assistance programs can apply for two-year grants in one of three categories:
- Vulnerable Populations Grants – $2.2 million is available for nonprofit organizations to operate programs that serve vulnerable populations.
- Small Business Assistance Grants – $2.2 million is available for nonprofit organizations to operate small business assistance programs.
- Emerging Nonprofits Grants – $300,000 is available for grants to emerging nonprofits to operate programs that serve vulnerable populations or small businesses and receive organizational development support.
Only nonprofit organizations serving the Irvine community are eligible to apply. All applications must be submitted electronically to IRP@cityofirvine.org by 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 24. No late applications will be accepted. Disability and language access are also available upon request.
The Irvine Recovery Plan Grants Review Subcommittee will meet twice in September for grant application review, scoring, and City Council recommendations.
