Today, after a 30-year career in the accounting and finance profession, Wendy Preece will be officially retiring from the City of Menifee. She is currently the longest-serving employee with 13 years dedicated to the City’s Finance Department.
Wendy began her career at the City of Menifee in September 2009 as a Senior Accountant, just one year after the City’s incorporation. She was the first official City of Menifee finance employee and was promoted to Accounting Manager in 2011, Finance Manager in 2017, and Deputy Finance Director in 2019.
“Wendy has been instrumental in helping develop and grow the Finance Department into a top-tier division that has continuously ensured taxpayer money is being used appropriately and in the best interest of our city,” said City Manager Armando Villa. “There is no question that we will miss her, but we wish her all the best in retirement.”
Wendy’s leadership and oversight of the Finance Department have also been instrumental in the City receiving multiple awards for financial excellence including the annual Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence of Financial Reporting and Distinguished Budget Award, the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers’ Annual Operating Budget Excellence Award, and the California Municipal Treasurers Association’s Investment Policy Certification program for City’s Investment Policy.
“Menifee has been my home for over 30 years and it has been an honor to serve my community directly,” said Wendy. “I know the City’s finances are in good hands with the incredible finance team we have in place.”
Wendy looks forward to spending more time with her children and grandchildren, as well as her two cats and two dogs.
