The City of Palmdale is excited to announce our new communications and public information officer, Thomas Lynch. He will communicate timely information about the City with media outlets, public officials, and our citizens. Thomas will also manage the City’s television channel (Channel 27 on Spectrum Network), website, and social media platforms. “My job is to bring it all together,” remarked Lynch, “we have programs and initiatives that are the best in the region. I feel that my job is to make sure the public is informed and engaged.”
Thomas received a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from East Carolina University (Greenville, NC), and he has experience working in front and behind the camera. Thomas started his career as an associate producer for the 6 and 11 pm newscasts for WITN-TV, a local NBC affiliate. Later he was promoted to photojournalist and reported local and national stories relevant to the region. Thomas continued his communications career at Pitt County Government (Greenville, NC), where he was quickly promoted to the director of public information. He also owned his own media production and consultation company.
Through communications, Lynch hopes to fortify the City’s image with clear, concise messaging and create new ways to deploy media. “My vision is simple,” Thomas stated, “I want to build upon the infrastructure my predecessor created. My goal is to personalize and synchronize our messaging with our citizenry. The City should speak with one voice and have one ultimate goal; improving the lives of our community”.
Off the clock, Thomas enjoys photography (still & motion), writing poetry, listening to Jazz, and hiking. He also loves to cook and spend time with his family.
