City of American CanyonThe City of American Canyon is pleased to announce the hiring of Juan Gomez as Finance Director, effective January 9, 2023.

As the City’s Finance Director, Gomez will lead all activities and operations of the Finance department—managing goals and policies, employee development, budget development, and more. In addition, Gomez will serve as a member of the City’s Management Team, shaping the future of American Canyon through sound fiscal administration.

“Strategic and transparent financial management is essential to providing American Canyon residents with the highest quality of life,” said City Manager Jason Holley. “We take that responsibility seriously and believe that Juan has the skills and the values to lead that pursuit. We are excited to welcome him to the team!”

Gomez brings more than 15 years of government finance experience to the City, with demonstrated knowledge in general accounting, accounts payable, budgeting, financial reporting, and financial analysis. He most recently served as Finance Manager at West County Wastewater, with prior experience working for the cities of Fairfield and Pleasanton and Contra Costa Water District.

“It’s an honor to be selected as Finance Director,” stated Gomez. “I recognize the immense responsibility and privilege of serving as a steward of the CIty’s finances. I look forward to partnering with existing staff to provide our very best to the residents of American Canyon!”

Gomez earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from California State University East Bay. As a current resident of American Canyon, he shares a love for the City and a commitment to its continued advancement.
